This week in Ottawa-Gatineau is packed with fun and interesting things to do so I won’t waist any time and I’ll jump right into my selection of event suggestions for the coming days.
To start off, the Ottawa Wine & Food Festival runs from November 7 to November 11 at a pop-up location with Martin Picard on the 7th, at the Delta City Centre on the 8th and at the Ottawa Convention Centre for the main event between the 9th and 11th. This Friday, November 9, Toxic Twins present the monthly edition of Grillz & Glam at Babylon starting at 11pm. The recurring event will feature Ottawa’s own DJ Illo along with Brains4brkfst, which means guaranteed good beats.
November is a reminder that it’s also Movember, a month during which men grow at-times-horrible facial hair in an effort to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer. As a result, various fundraising events take place throughout the month to raise money for the cause. For example, this Saturday, November 10, Ritual is hosting Tits ‘N’ Stache, a benefit fashion show for both the Breast Cancer Society and Movember. Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door and can be purchased at the places mentioned on the poster below.
Also this Saturday, November 10, Mighty Popo will be performing live at the Blacksheep Inn in Wakefield at 8:30 pm. The Rwandan-Burundian singer-songwriter and musician will be singing songs off of his latest album titled Gakondo along with previous material as well. This Sunday, November 11, head over to Babylon for a live performance of Soul Funk and Motown by The Hornettes. The show will be followed by the Mod Club with DJs Gaz and Emmett. Get everything you need to know by clicking the poster below.
If you’re a fan of turntablism, electronic dance music and hip hop I suggest you go to Mansion this Sunday, November 11 for the OWSLA TOUR with Birdy Nam Nam, Monsta and Nick Thayer. The event, presented by Bydek, Embrace and Mansion is set to begin at 9:o0 pm. More info available by clicking the poster below.
On a more serious note, lest we forget that it’s Remembrance Day this Sunday, November 11 and to pay tribute to the veterans’ contribution to the country and to the lives lost overseas, be sure to partake in some of the Remembrance Week activities taking place at the Canadian War Museum over the coming days.
