For the punk fans, FocusedxMinds are bringing their gig to Luneta Cafe this Tuesday, November 12. The Milwaukee straight-edge group will be performing live alongside The Sheds, Raw Style, and Bloodnail.
If you’re more into indie rock, Vancouver indie/rock formation Said The Whale will be stopping by Ottawa this Wednesday, November 13 as part of their 2013 Canadian Tour. Said The Whale will be joined on stage at Ritual by the Kopecky Family Band and Alvvays.
This Thursday and Friday, the Embassy of Spain in Ottawa and the Mercuy Lounge have teamed up to present Pedro Navarro live in concert. This Spanish flamenco guitarist sensation, critically acclaimed as having “magic fingers” will be performing live on both nights starting at 8pm. Do not miss this rare occasion to see such a talented musician live!

Those of you who want to check out a burlesque show this week should make their way to Maxwell’s this Thursday for Strip Cheese II: Stripped. This second instalment will feature burlesque performances by Ottawa’s own Capital Tease Burlesque, Rockalily Burlesque, Sin Sisters, Twisted Knickers and more.
The very first edition of FADED, from the people who bring you LIFTED and Hip Hop Karaoke, is going down this Thursday, November 14. If you want to jam to your favourite rap, trap & RnB all loud in your ear, be sure to head to Babylon and turn up.
On the indie side of things, Montreal-favorites Groenland are back in Ottawa this Friday, November 15. The orchestral pop sextet will be performing live at Zaphods alongside local groups Pony Girl and Paterson Hall. A recipe for success? I like to think so.
DJs Zattar, Memetic and Eric Roberts have reason to celebrate. This Friday, November 15, their monthly dance party Timekode turns 8 years old! That quite an accomplishment for a local monthly. 8 years strong of Soul moving soles. On Saturday, November 16, the 3rd annual edition of Glisten! A Handmade Holiday Event is happening at the Irving Greenberg Theater. The perfect occasion to shop for holiday gifts from some of Ottawa’s best indie craft designers and makers. It’s free admission, there will be holiday tunes, door prizes & more.
On Saturday, Hip Hop wizards Wordburglar and Swamp Thing (aka Timbuktu, Chokeules & Savilion) are hitting the Nation’s Capital on the occasion of their Devil’s RV Tour. The show, happening at Ritual, will also feature a live performance by Ottawa rapper Jesse Dangerously.
Eric Gilmore & The Mad Hatters’ are giving their last performance of 2013 this Saturday, November 16 at Zaphods. They’ll be joined on stage by alternative hip hop group Antiks and ambiant pop/rock duo By The Lights.
Saskatoon folk/indie band The Deep Dark Woods will be live in concert at Ritual this coming Saturday. They’ll be playing alongside Edmonton garage-pop musician Michael Rault and more to be announced.
The Arboretum Festival presents Toronto duo EONS with special guest The Weather Station this Sunday, November 17. The show, taking place at Raw Sugar Cafe, is all ages and according to the Facebook event page, it’ll leave an indelible mark.
As part of Apt613’s Support Local Month, Antique Skate and Herd Magazine bring you The Social Book Exchange, a night of trading books and exchanging words. The event, taking place this Sunday at Oz Cafe, will feature complimentary appetizers provided by the venue, a bar with 15% of sales being donated to #1squarefoot along with music by Peter Turner. The main act is the book exchange, so if you go, bring a good book, stay for the fun, and take a book of your choice on your way out.
If you’re a fan of EDM and dubstep, you probably want to check out the Firepower Most Wanted Tour on Sunday, November 17 at Ritual featuring a headlining set by Datsik. The rising Toronto DJ and Producer with Dim Mak Records will be joined by Funtcase, Rise at Night and local DJ JC BooM.
