To kick off the week in music, Ghost Cousin will be performing live at Mugshots alongside Tyler Joseph Roy and Chris Snow. The Edmonton-based indie ambient pop group will be giving a show in Ottawa in an effort to promote their debut full-length album Scotland.
Fans of hardcore metal may want to head over to Mavericks this Tuesday, October 1 to catch Sworn Enemy live with supporting acts Life on Trial, No Scars for the Wicked and At Odds all of Ottawa. The NYC kings of hardcore metal are returning to Canada’s National Capital as part of their North American tour so be sure to check them out if you’re into metal and have never seen these guys live.
On Wednesday, October 2, Love in Outer Space is happening at Raw Sugar Cafe. This night of all-vinyl cosmic jams, brought to you by Lamb Rabbit special guest DJ CalKuta will feature a live modular synthesis set by Gary Franks of Roberta Bondar and astral projections by VJ Mawt Trood. There’s event going to be an outer space installation/space station by Jenn Noseworthy.
This Wednesday, October 2, Houston, Texas rapper Kirko Bangz will be performing live at Ritual with special guest Eddy P. The American rapper, who was included in XXL Magazine’s 2013 Freshman Class, will in Ottawa as part of the Progression III Canadian Tour. This show has been cancelled by the promoters due to unforseen circumstances i.e. Kirko Bangz probably didn’t make it past the Canadian border, but who knows.
Beau’s All Natural Brewing Co. and the Mercury Lounge have teamed up to present Radioactive , a monthly indie music series showcasing collaborations from local, national and international artists, starting this Thursday, October 3. For the first installment, High Waters will be performing live with Eraserheads and Rock Forest.
If you’re into that west coast hip hop, you’ll want to head over to Ritual this Friday, October 4 for 2Pac Party. DJs So Nice, Circa Beatz and Atherton will be paying homage to the late great Tupac Shakur by playing west coast rap jams all night.
The monthly afro/latin/caribbean dancefloor affair that is Tropikalo is back at the Mercury Lounge this Friday, October 4. For the October edition, resident selectors DJ Zattar and Lance Baptiste will be making you move to some golden tunes so be sure to bring out your dancing shoes if you plan on attending.
Beau’s All Natural Brewing Co. is holding its annual Oktoberfest celebrations in Vankleek Hill this Friday, October 4 and Saturday, October 5. Not only can you sample a variety of craft beers at Beau’s signature fundraising event, you can also try the Bavarian inspired cuisine and see some live music from Kathleen Edwards, Sloan, Rich Aucoin, The Balconies and more.
For the fans of electronic dance music, Dubsmack presents Sound Remedy live at Barrymore’s this Saturday, October 5. The American electrohouse and dubstep DJ/Producer from LA will be giving a live set in Ottawa as part of his Sound is Our Remedy Tour.

This Sunday, October 6, Top of the World in association with SBC, DC, Gold and DGK, presents the Ottawa premiere of Aspect:Ratio by Jason Burles. Tickets for the film screening, taking place at the Mayfair Theatre, are available via Top of the World.
