Austin rock/metal band The Sword will be bringing its High Country Tour to the National Capital this Monday, April 11. The Razor & Tie records signees will be playing live at Ritual alongside Atlanta rockers Royal Thunder.
This Thursday, April 14, beatbox poet, punk pianist and iconoclast C.R. Avery returns to Ottawa to perform live at the Mercury Lounge. The BC-based artist will be joined on stage by special guest Robert Sarazin Blake and Ottawa’s Rob Reid, who’ll be giving an all-vinyl set.
At Pressed this Thursday night, there’s an event called Be Kind organized in support of KIND SPACE (Pink Triangle Services) and Algonquin College’s Syd Ford Fund. To help raise funds for these two non-profit programs, there will be live sets by Ottawa garage powerpop band Creep Wave, Ottawa psych synth project Spell and Ottawa techno producer Lunokhod Selector.
Toronto circus party punks Mineta are performing live at House of Targ this Thursday night and they’ll be playing alongside Ottawa rockabilly/surf/gypsy jazz band The Sick Sick Sicks and Ottawa acoustic rockers The Owl Eyes Project. Oh and you know it’s always a good time when there’s pinball and perogies involved.
If you’re into doom and sludge metal, make your way over to Cafe Dekcuf this Friday night to catch Hull-based doom-death/sludge band Norilsk, Saskatoon instrumental doom/stoner metal group Black Tremor and Ottawa doom/sludge/post-metal project Longhouse.
Jonathan Becker & The North Fields are kicking off their Spring Tour at home with a show happening at Live on Elgin this Friday, April 15. For the occasion, the local alternative folk rock band will be sharing the stage with special guests Elsa, Sarah Bradley of Fevers and others.

TIMEKODE is back to set off the spring season with an all vinyl, all boogie funk/modern soul soirée happening this Friday night at Backdrop and featuring the Bay Area’s own DJ Mama Bear (Sweater Funk/dublab). This is going to be an intimate party with very limited space so be sure to get there early if you want in on the fun.
Ever heard of Hervana? The all-girl Nirvana cover band from Toronto will be making a return to Ottawa this Friday night to give a show at House of Targ. This time around, the 4-piece will be performing Unplugged in New York front to back and sharing the stage with Ottawa garage rock group Trees Of North America and Ottawa indie rock band Sleepy & the Noise.

For those of you who want to check out some experimental indie music this weekend, there’s a show at Pressed that may be of interest featuring Toronto indie/experimental band Moon King and Otawa indie/shoegaze project Baberaham Lincoln.
