These next few days offer another fun October week that doesn’t fall short of offering exciting events for everyone. From an afternoon with Native artist Tomson Highway to a night of music with Dragonette, I’m confident that you’ll find something out there that’s bound to please your tastes when it comes to events.
First up on my list of suggestions for this week is an afternoon with award-winning and internationally renowned Native playwright, novelist, pianist and songwriter Tomson Highway. Join this fantastic artist this Wednesday, October 17 for a public lecture on Canadian Aboriginal Literature at Carleton University. For further details, simply click on the poster below.
If you love hip hop music and karaoke, head over to Babylon nightclub this Thursday, October 18 for the monthly edition of Hip Hop Karaoke with DJ So Nice and Atherton. The two hosts promise a night of fun with this twist on traditional karaoke that steps away from the conventional “mom n’ pop video screen bouncy ball read-a-long half-assed last-minute-plan-with-your-girlfriends-in-korea-town karaoke jam”. If you think you got what it takes to rap along to your favorite hip hop song, sign up for this Thursday! Check out all the details by clicking the image below.
Hip Hop heads and Taylor Gang members unite for Wiz Khalifa headlining at the Ottawa CE Centre this Friday, October 19 as part of the 2050 Tour. The American rapper will be performing alongside special guests Juicy J (yes, one half of Three 6 Mafia) and Chevy Woods who’s also with Taylor Gang. For more info, just click on the poster below.
If you’re into electro, I recommend Black Tiger Sex Machine who will be live at Ritual as part of Dubsmack this Friday, October 19. These dubstep DJs from Montreal were at the Piknic Electronik Gatineau this past September and they definitely know how to make the crowds dance. This is sure to be a great night of music and dancing! Grab more info by clicking the poster below.
Also live this weekend is Dragonette who’ll be at Babylon this Saturday, October 20. The electropop group from Toronto will be performing in Ottawa alongside Data Romance and the electronic world beat trio Young Empires. For more info on this event, just click the poster below.
Also on Saturday, October 20, Cumberland Haus presents Haus Party with Jon Deck and Laocapone. The event takes place in the lounge at Ritual and will feature trap and hip hop music. For more details click below.
