It’s already the end of July and before we know it it’ll be the end of summer, but let’s not look too far ahead and enjoy the summer while it lasts. Who knows, we may even have a prolonged summer season aka an Indian summer this year.

In the meantime, here’s a selection of events taking place in the Ottawa-Gatineau region to get you by the end of July.

This Thursday, July 26 proves to be a busy day with lots of events scheduled around the city. The evening kicks off with the unveiling party of NRML Femme, NRML Clothing’s recently-renovated women store. NRML staff invite the women of Ottawa to celebrate fashion in the capital with the launch of their newest addition. Ladies will get to enjoy food appetizers and pink champagne to music by DJ Ray Ray, they will be surprised by giveaways and will even get to make their own perfume at the custom Aromachology perfume bar. Later on Thursday evening, the Brotherhood presents Ottawart at Fall Down Gallery from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. This edition of Ottawart will feature Samantha McCarthy and OttawaYouth PoetrySlam in an effort to offer local artists a space to showcase their art. A combination of art, poetry, and music, the evening is perfect for young professionals looking for local artwork and an opportunity to mingle and enjoy an early night out on the town. For the hip-hop heads who are fans of Scarface and who planned to go see him live this Thursday, July 26 at Ritual, stay tuned as the event may be cancelled to due to issues between the artist and Canadian customs. A statement has yet to be released by organizer Kapacity Entertainment, so be sure to click below and check for updates on the promoter’s Facebook page.

Also this Thursday, July 26 is the start of the 2012 Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival aka Chamberfest. This is a must for those who love classical music and by extension chamber music. The world’s largest festival of its kind, Chamberfest strives to make classical music accessible to everyone. Have you ever camped in the heart of the city? Well here’s how you can! Kicking off this Friday, July 27 is the Festival Nuits d’été aka Summer Nights Festival organized by Saw Gallery in collaboration with AXENÉO7 which offers 6 days of cinema and music under the stars. This unique urban-summer-camp concept invites the public to watch avant-garde outdoor films followed by live music by the campfire performed by local DJs and musicians. This Saturday, July 28 is the monthly-edition of Grind taking place at Babylon Nightclub. The July installment features none-other than Ottawa’s own DJ Illo alongside Jon Deck. Always a successful party night, Grind is perfect if you love hip-hop, reggaeton and club music and want to dance the night away with a group of friends. Check out all the details below.

Also happening this Saturday, July 28 is Afrobeat No Go Die at the Mercury Lounge. The monthly-edition of Afrobeat strives to spread the spirit of Fela Kuti by presenting live authentic Kalakuta style Afrobeat.
