We only have a couple of days left before we enter the month of June, which means that festival season is finally upon the National Capital Region! A favorite time of the year for many, festival season has something to offer for everyone. Having said this, most festivals officially kick-off in mid-June, so be patient and bear with me as I offer a list of some noteworthy events taking place this week :)

To start off, this Friday is the June Edition of Frenzy at Babylon on Bank St featuring Iggy Smalls and Ean Skizzle providing you with “forward club thinking music all night”. Frenzy starts at 11pm and entrance is $4. You can grab more info on the poster below.

Velo Vogue is set to take place this Saturday, June 2 at 3pm at the Ottawa City Hall As part of Capital VeloFest. This bicycle fashion show was created by two young ladies who love cycling and who decided to merge their love for biking and style in the Nation’s Capital. The event will showcase fashionable commuters and their bikes and you can grab more info below.

Also this Saturday, June 2 is the monthly edition of Static at Babylon. Having said this, this edition will offer a special twist in celebration of the Escapade Music Festival, which takes place during the Canada Day long weekend. This Saturday, DNA Entertainment in collaboration with Bass Machines present Ottawa’s local bass music talent  for an exclusive Escapade Music Festival pre-party. Picnic: A Hangover Event is launching this Sunday, June 3 starting at 4pm at Mugshots Courtyard at 75 Nicolas St across from the Rideau Centre. DJ MAGNIFICENT, DJ ILLO, DJ GREEZE and LANCE BAPTISTE will be spinning soul, funk, reggae and Sunday afternoon hip-hop on the 1s and 2s. Lynda Thalie will be performing at the Salle Jean-Desprez at the Maison du Citoyen in Gatineau, Quebec on Thursday, June 7 at 7pm. The Algerian-born singer will be presenting songs from her Coup de Coeur show while helping to raise funds for a team of women participating in the Rose des Sables Rally in Morocco.You can obtain more details on the Facebook event page here.
